“If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it!
Another is,
“We have always done it this way.“
We at Startup Connection believe in trying simple ideas and approaches that work to foster innovation:
Be sure your business calls for openness and a willingness to take risk/s.
Try to use a team approach to develop materials and integrate analytics, humor, and applicable descriptions.
Be sure to be flexible and willing to change goals and processes dependent upon circumstances. Starting a business is a process, recognize as part of this process, you will make mistakes.
Always think about your target’s needs, capabilities, and goals. Keep in mind, benefits sell and features tell.
Be sure to address the barriers to change and the reasons. Keep in mind, “We’ve always done it this way,” serves as a powerful deterrent to change.
Make efforts to empower people, especially those who deal with customers. The benefits in this approach will far outweigh the few mistakes.
Use different vehicles for communication. For example, replace Power Point and lectures with videos and discussions. Many of us still use old world technology when there are so many new tools available that offer real advantages over previous methods and techniques.
Ask yourself the question, what did you do great and where could you improve? Focusing on opportunities is usually easier than trying to breakdown barriers. For example, just hug your best customers.
Be brief, say please, and thank you. You have about 20 seconds to make an impression, use it wisely.
Go slow and develop, test, measure, and adapt. Assumptions, processes, and marketing approaches can all be improved as you progress. Don’t think you have all the answers in the beginning.
